Apple Faces Copyright Claims

The Beijing Intellectual Property Office has ordered Apple to cease selling its iPhone range in Beijing, upholding a claim by a Chinese company that its 100C smartphone (pictured below) was ripped off by the Californian tech giants. While their points may or may not have validity, it represents another setback for the prospects of global tech companies in China, who have been a little firm of late in pushing back against overtures from the big guns.

Citing the fact that consumers would be unable to tell the world’s most famous consumer object from the 100+ 100C due to the ‘minute differences’ between them, some feel that the ban is less to do with objective consumers rights issues and more to do with putting one in the American corporate eye.
