TESLA boss and all-round tech mega-celeb, Elon Musk, got himself in a bit of hot water after he apparently slammed Apple’s recruitment policy as being a bone heap for failed Tesla hires. Speaking to Handelsblatt he said, “They have hired people we’ve fired. We always jokingly call Apple the ‘Tesla graveyard’. If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I’m not kidding”. He even went one further and attacked their build and labour quality, when asked if Apple’s moves into automobiles was something Tesla was worried by. “Did you ever take a look at the Apple Watch?” was his pithy reply. “You can’t just go to a supplier like Foxconn and say: build me a car”.
But, as with all things this juicy, Musk did then take to Twitter to backtrack and clarify his statements, by simply tweeting
“Yo, I don’t hate Apple… it’s a great company with a lot of talented people. I love their products and I’m glad they’re doing an EV”.
