Myles and I spoke about Wearable Technology last week. With research from Juniper indicating we could see 30 million or more smart-watches sold in the next few years we discussed first, the smartwatch. I’ve been trying a various models out over the last few months, and admit I was a skeptic. Having used quite a few over the last while, I settled upon the Martian Smartwatch as my test device of choice and I’m willing to concede that I am now, officially a convert. From text messages, to Twitter to Siri integration I think it’ll be a while before I stop looking at my wrist when the phone bleeps.
There’s a lot more to wearable than smart watches and Google Glass though, and for me the big win for us as a society is in healthcare and how we can improve and monitor our health and vital signs using wearable technology – and perhaps make the first serious impact on the obesity and diabetes challenges being experienced in developed economies. A short piece with Myles, but I think we got some interesting thoughts in.
