SONY TESTS POP-UP TV ADS

Sony has filed for the patent on a new type of advertising that they are hoping will make consumers interact more with the product and almost enter into a type of video game, but which will probably end up driving most of the population insane.

Imagine, if you will, you’re watching your favourite episode of Friends, when suddenly an advert pops up for Coke Zero. If you wish to watch the entire advert and return back to Friends once it’s over, then you can totally do that. But if you want the ad to finish before then, you’ll need to shout “Coke Zero!” at your smart TV, and then the advert will stop, and you’re back to Rachel and Ross.

While the applications for this are obviously very much related to psychology – getting someone to shout out the name of a product is a good way to get that product imprinted on their minds – we imagine it’ll get the same reaction as YouTube advertising did, which, if you remember, was about as negative a reaction as possible.

Mavshack VOD teams up with myPhone in Philippines

Mavshack.com, the video on-demand streaming company has agreed a partnership with MyPhone, the leading distributor of phones in the Philippines. Mavshack is a leader  in streaming local content to global populations and Mavshack Philippines is the first of several content channels being delivered worldwide.  Mavshack operate a multi-platform service similar to Netflix in the Philippines, costing around 210 Philippine Pesos, the equivalent of five dollars per month.

NASA Game Changing 3D Printing success really matters

Last night I tweeted a link to the Press Release from NASA regarding their success with  testing a rocket engine injector made through additive manufacturing, or as we say these days,  3D printing. What surprised me was the reaction I got via re-Tweets, messages and people just saying 'wow!'. I think what caught people's attention was the potential highlighted by the success in NASA's test, the potential for manufacturing and for business.
