As we become more and more integrated with our computers and smart phones, it’s no longer strange to see people asking their devices questions in the public, whereas ten years ago that would’ve been something much closer to science fiction. Or a very poorly veiled example of insanity.
Still though, with the likes of Siri and Cortana, how far away are we from the reality of a movie like “Her”, where the next evolutionary step is full on conversations and debates with that little metal brick in your pocket?
While the concept of voice recognition with these devices is still relatively new to the consumer, the technology is advancing in huge quantum leaps. Google has released this video to explain the history of talking with computers, and to indicate where its future might lie.
