The Pebble smartwatch is now on sale in the UK, which could pave the way for future availability in Irish shops. Sales of the super cute and handy Pebble have been booming ever since its massively successful launch on Kickstarter.
The Pebble is a simpler machine than Apple’s eagerly awaited new arrival, but it has some advantages. Its e-paper screen (like on a Kindle) allows users to get up to seven days of battery life as the Pebble notifies them of emails, text messages, and scores from ESPN, amongst many other things.
Its open-source approach to applications is also neat, which means, with the right know-how anyone can create their own apps for the Pebble.
In the UK, the Pebble costs £100 while the Pebble Steel is priced at £180. The online store Firebox is the first UK retailer to carry the gadgets, with O2 shops set to follow suit. Let’s hope they make it to Ireland sometime soon.
